Understanding Delivery Lines, Deliveries and Transports

The Agiblocks logistics process starts with Reservations. These are plans to move goods from one party to another. Each reservation starts from either a purchase contract or inventory and ends in a sales contract, a storage location or a destination.

To go from a plan to actual delivery of goods, a reservation needs to be assigned to a logistic Delivery. From that point on, the reservation is extended with additional information to become a delivery line. In Agiblocks logistics, a delivery line is the lowest unit of work. The Deliveries screen displays both delivery lines and all unassigned reservations.

A logistic delivery represents a single shipment, for example by ocean vessel. It can consist of multiple delivery lines.  Deliveries can be created by selecting the New App bar button from the Deliveries screen. This opens a New delivery screen. On this screen, reservations can be assigned to both new and existing deliveries. Once a delivery is saved, the delivery and its lines can be viewed and edited in single delivery form.

Upon creation, each delivery is given a unique number beginning with the fiscal year in which it is created followed by the letter “D” and a 5 digit number, e.g. 2016-D00492.

Transports

A delivery may have a transport.  If a transport is needed, the details can be entered when creating a new delivery using the New delivery screen. A delivery without a transport can be created from the New Deliveries screen by using the forklift button on the reservation to create the delivery.

A transport can also be created from the Transports screen. This enables setup of empty deliveries with transport so that reservations can be assigned to it later in the New delivery screen.

Delivery Creation From a Reservation in the Deliveries Screen

Reservations that have been created but not yet been allocated to a delivery are also displayed as a delivery line in the Deliveries screen.  These will have a new status called “Reserved”, shown in the Progress column.  A delivery can be created quickly from a reservation by selecting the reservation row in the Deliveries list and then selecting the Create delivery button on the inline form.
