Contract vs Logistic Delivery Terms

Top  Previous  Next

Contract document agreements might include tolerance levels and optional specifications. Logistics information describes how much of what was physically delivered. This section explains the definition of these terms as used by Agiblocks. The broad framework allows companies to use Agiblocks according to their own work-flow.

Example:

A Purchase contract with one contract delivery line split over three contract delivery lines physical deliveries

Purchase or Sales Contract Delivery Lines

A contract has one or more contract delivery lines that specify what is traded (quantity and specification) and how to price that (Priced, To be fixed, which futures etc.).

In Agiblocks, a contract is usually numbered using this format:

 <year>-<P for purchase or S for Sales><number>

In the example, that is 2014-P0123.

Contract Delivery Line Numbers

A contract has one or more contract deliveries that specify the delivery period.

In Agiblocks, a contract delivery is numbered using this format:

 <contract nr>/<delivery nr>

In the example, that is 2014-P0123/3 for contract 2014-P0123, contract delivery line 3.

Contract Delivery Line Physical Deliveries

A contract delivery line can be split into one or more physical deliveries.  Each of these physical deliveries can have its own amount, pricing and delivery information.

A contract delivery line physical delivery can be executed in logistics as one physical Logistics Delivery or as multiple partial deliveries. In the example, the Dec-2014 contract delivery line could be split into three Logistic Deliveries on different dates in December 2014.

In Agiblocks, a contract delivery line is numbered using this format:

 <contract nr>/<line nr>.<contract delivery line number>

In the example, that is 2014-P0123/3.1 for contract 2014-P0123, line 3, delivery line 1.

If there is only one contract delivery line, the contract line number can be ignored. This makes the contract delivery line number equal to the contract delivery number.

Logistic Delivery

In Agiblocks, a Logistic delivery represents a single shipment, for example by ocean vessel. It can consist of multiple deliveries from different contract delivery lines or even different contracts listed on one Delivery form. A Transport may be linked to a Delivery, although Deliveries without Transport are possible under certain conditions.

A logistic delivery is numbered using this format:

 <year>-<D for Delivery or T for Transport><delivery nr>

In the example, that is 2014-D0234 with associated Transport 2014-T0234.

Below is a Purchase Contract with 1 contract delivery line.  The first contract delivery line is split over three contract deliveries. The first contract delivery has three physical Logistic Deliveries, each with their own Transport.
