FCC Net Landed Weight Calculation

Top  Previous  Next

The FCC (the institute that defines the franchise concept for Cocoa trade) prescribes a specific calculation for the net landed weight. It uses the average weight of the bags that arrived as sound & full, and multiplies it with the total number of bags that was shipped (as indicated on the left side of an Agiblocks execution form).  Therefore, a new, optional field called Net landed weight based on has been added to Weight terms master data.

This allows a user to indicate which specific commodity property value will be used to mark which line in a Weight Note should be used to calculate the (default) value for the net landed weight. The formula is then: line quantity x (number of bags shipped / number of bags in the line).

In other cases, when there is no weight note, or when the weight note has no line marked with such a property value, then the (default) value for the net landed weight will simply be the net quantity as entered by the user on the right side of the execution form.

In both cases, the user can still override the (default) net landed weight value. If there is a franchise term, this value for the net landed weight will be used to calculate if, and how much, the net landed weight exceeded the franchise.
