Agiblocks Reporting 2.0 OData Support

Top  Previous  Next

Agiblocks reporting capability is being updated with this release.  Agiblocks has always had a separate reporting database that has data represented in a way that users can more easily understand and use in reports.  The Agiblocks Reporting module up until release 3.31.2 only allowed Agiblocks users to connect to the reporting database and create reports through a single interface which was built into the Agiblocks application and used the Agiblocks standard user interface.  This reporting module is now called Agiblocks Reporting 1.0.

In version 3.31.2, Agiblocks now supports connections to the Agiblocks reporting database through use of an OData interface.  This allows Agiblocks customers to use any reporting tool that supports an OData connection. This additional capability of connecting to other reporting tools using the OData interface is referred to as Agiblocks Reporting 2.0.

A connection to the Agiblocks reporting database using an OData interface would look like the diagram below.

OData support allows many standard reporting tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SAP Crystal Reports, and even Microsoft Excel to quickly and easily connect to the Agiblocks Reporting database and retrieve information.  More detailed information about OData can be found here: https://www.odata.org/getting-started/understand-odata-in-6-steps/

Reporting 2.0 and Microsoft Power BI

If your company does not currently use a web enabled reporting tool but you want to use Agiblocks Reporting 2.0, you can speak to an Agiblocks consultant about using Microsoft Power BI.  Agiboo recommends Microsoft Power BI and can assist you in setting up a Microsoft Power BI account and setting up reports.

Agiblocks Reporting 1.0 Support Ends December 2020

Agiblocks Reporting 1.0 uses Adobe Flash to create reports. Adobe will be ending support for Flash at the end of 2020 and therefore Agiboo will also be ending support for its Reporting 1.0 module in December 2020.  Unless you wish to use another web based reporting tool, Agiboo staff will work with your company to move any current Agiblocks Reporting 1.0 reports you are using to Microsoft Power BI.
